English Dub Review: Blue Lock “Itoshi Sae”

Overview:

When Itoshi Sae scores the match’s first goal, the crowd goes wild, making it clear to Team Blue Lock that they’re here to watch Sae. Rin changes the strategy and Nagi makes the memorable first goal for Team Blue Lock.

Our Take:

Remember when I said that Isagi doesn’t feel like the main character? I said that with all the focus Nagi has gotten, including his movie, you would be forgiven for thinking he was the main character of this story. This episode had a huge moment where a character not only did some amazing ball handling but also scored one of the most awesome goals of the series thus far. Do you think Isagi was the one to do it? Nope, it was Nagi! Don’t get me wrong it was an awesome moment and I loved it but it just feels like an interesting writing decision.

It’s also becoming more obvious how bad the animation has gotten at this point. I understand CGI is used to cover a lot of holes but the CGI used in this show looks bad. I understand they’re doing their best but I saw this episode compared side by side with a Naruto episode from 2006 and it was bad. I hope we get some improvement soon.
