Review: Bogged Down: Under a Rock? Part One
Overview
Todd, Wenzel, and Branchesca ponder what lies beneath a rock.
Our Take
Bob Brewster and Mike Carfora team up to co-produce a new animated short series for Adult Swim called Bogged Down: Under a Rock?, the first of a two-part series that sees a toad named Todd (Brewster), a tree named Branchesca (Laura Bennet), and Wenzel (Peter Logan) a huge ass spider wonder what the hell is going on under rocks in the forest. Turns out…quite a lot though there’s a spirited debate on the complex dynamics of what happens when you pick up said rocks.
Overall, the short is rock solid…see what I did there? A simple premise that leads to a spirited discussion not unlike what Aqua Teen Hunger Force used to do for Adult Swim. In fact, the series isn’t unlike Squidbillies due to the fact that it takes place in the wetlands and features creatures with odd accents. I’m not sure there’s SO much here for a ten-episode proper series for the network, but I do see the working potential here for Bob and Mike to potentially make something in the future that would be more indicative of the type of stuff you would see on TV. I don’t know what that is yet, but I bet these guys do.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
