Annecy 2024: WB Discovery Adult Animation News And Reaction

Here’s the thing, just because WB Discovery greenlights or develops an animated project, there’s no telling if any of these will come to pass. The company has fanned such a distrust online due to the fact they have a history of ordering TV shows and movies and then not premiering them, or firing their TV show creators for no reason, or canceling series that should not be canceled in any way shape or form leaving Netflix to hopefully decide whether or not to order additional seasons. This is causing subscriber erosion at the streamer, because with MAX having just increased its cost just a week ago, it’s continuing it’s trek as one of worst streaming services in terms of overall value when comparing the cost of the streamer versus the amount of new content available to stream.

Casinos Sweeps, analyzed the monthly ad-free price of each streaming service, as well as the number of movies and TV shows each one offers as of May 2024. They calculated how much each streaming service charges per media (movies and TV shows) to determine which ones are the best value. Charging $0.0050 per movie and TV show, Max ranks sixth in a list of the top ten streamers with a total of 3,209 movies and TV shows for $15.99 per month ad-free.

WB Discovery is also famous for not promoting any of its original animation even when it comes out. As compared to say a Hulu (Hulu is in seventh place, costing $0.0059 per movie and TV show  with 2,818 movies and TV shows, with the ad-free subscription costing $17.99 per month) that promotes their series WELL before they premiere. Easy example is the reboot of King of the Hill next year.

Online card game site Hearts.co analyzed nationwide and regional Google searches for upcoming reboots, remakes and sequels, to identify which ones people are most keen to watch, King of the Hill is ranked eighth in the list of top-ten most searched reboots with almost 24,000 searches a month coming for an animated series that was canceled nearly 15 years ago.

Here’s hoping WB Discovery can right the ship and not only let us SEE this upcoming slate of newly-announced adult animated TV shows and films, but also MAYBE get us additional seasons as well.
