Our Take:
This is going to be a hard series to rate because it wasn’t bad but didn’t do anything special either. The characters were rather forgettable and it felt like the plot didn’t go anywhere. It’s a typical Romeo and Juliet type series where two people from enemy factions fall in love. The problem is this is a story we’ve seen a thousand times before so you need to make it fresh somehow, and I would argue this series didn’t succeed in that regard.
The two leads of the series, Akutsu and Lily are voiced by Brandon Acosta and Lindsay Sheppard respectively. Brandon Acosta has a little less of a track record as of now but he did a good job. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Akutus as a character but I liked the voice well enough. Lindsay Sheppard I have heard a lot more of and she brought a lot of fun and charm to Lily. I had a few problems with the show but the voice acting wasn’t one of them.
I’d say my biggest frustration was this series billed as a rom-com, but there wasn’t much on the romance front. With both leads being an angel and demon I figured there wouldn’t be as much of the annoying feet-dragging you see in series like this but I was wrong. I think there might have been more. Some of that is to be expected with their circumstances but high school behavior was odd because I was under the impression that these characters were very old, relatively speaking. The action was good when it happened but the fight scenes were few and far between. I can vividly remember three which isn’t a good thing in my opinion.
The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil is a series that tries to do too much and doesn’t do well at any of them. It’s not a great action, romance, or comedy and by the time the plot started to get interesting it was over. This is a series that would have benefitted from a second cour or a second season but I bet we’re not going to get one and by the time we do who’s going to care?
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
