English Dub Review: Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! “Super Bitter, Super Sweet”

Overview:

Tsubasa’s classmates at karaoke are excited for Valentine’s Day. Sayuri says she isn’t interested but later bumps into Minami while gazing at the Valentine’s display from afar. She then decides to ask Minami a question.

Our Take:

I’ve seen some people online talk smack on Tsubasa and say how he’s a lame protagonist. I’ve watched a lot of anime rom-coms and believe me when I say he’s probably in the top five of good ones. He can still get mildly annoying when it comes to some of his reactions to the things the girls do but I feel like that’s pretty normal. What I do like is even though he gets a little flustered he doesn’t let it stop him from doing something extremely kind and caring. Like playing Fuyuki’s favorite song on the piano to cheer her up.

I think my biggest problem with this show is going to be how I like all the different girls just the same. But this won’t have a harem ending I’m sure but how can I root against Fuyuki? I also love Sayuri though! Plus, there’s a third girl we haven’t even met yet and I’m sure I’ll probably love her too! It’s going to be tough to see any of them have their hearts broken.
