Our Take

This time around, the increased appearances of monsters from the Swamp crisis prompts more efforts to reduce them. Meanwhile the discussion around Sei’s potential political marriage becomes a focal point, with Elizabeth cautioning her about the implications. While this is going on, Sei chooses to forge her own path despite the plans for the kingdom to put her in some sort of arranged marriage and encourages Aira to do the same. Muted meetings ensue as candidates vie to become Sei’s suitor, intensifying the stakes for the other dudes in her life such as Hawke with Albert and Erhart all wanting to be part of it.

Much of the episode is mostly spent on other dudes wanting to be part of this marriage proposition, with various characters contemplating their roles such as Grand Magus Drewes and Johan from the Valdec family are considered, but the episode emphasizes the political nature of Sei’s marriage rather than any personal considerations.

Overall, the episode itself felt like one big interlude. As it didn’t really move the plot forward other than to remind the audience that all these dudes wanna get with Sei in some way, while also providing insights into the brewing tensions and goals around Sei’s marriage. The notion of kings attempting to coerce Sei into marriage after her significant contributions raises concerns. As nobles vie for Sei’s hand, the atmosphere grows restless. At the very least, I do like how Johann and Albert’s brother were respectful of Albert and Sei’s feelings and refused to get involved. What happens next I guess we’ll find out next episode…
