English Dub Review: Sweet Reincarnation “Reinforcements and a Bittersweet First Deployment”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
The war between Hubarek and his neighbor has repercussions on trade throughout the kingdom. Determined to do what it takes to get his trade goods in, Pas heads to the front!
Our Take:
There’s nothing better to end this “sweet” series with a bang than with a civil war between the noble families. Of course, this also stands in the way between Pastry and his future dream, as he would later realize. In addition to Lutoroute plotting to kill Squale, the war has also done numbers on the food supplies, mainly the goats Pastry was going to get to make a cake. Those goats were unfortunately sold off to another noble named Baron Lunzvage. Like Brioche, Baron is seemingly a pain in the neck to the lower classes, as he’s notorious for bullying the lesser nobles. He’s only shown in a flashback, so we might not see him in person until next week or its potential second season.
So, how does the soon-to-be king of sweets attempt to settle this impending dispute? Why, by joining the fight, of course. With Pastry and Casserole joining Team Hubareck, the father/son duo are tested to prove their worth in the battle for their future, mainly Pastry’s. Squale also gets a chance to join the front line, but because he is the target for Lutoroute and has no combat experience, he’s sent to a much safer location to ensure his safety. Unfortunately, this strategy didn’t last long, as Lutoroute sent his men to that location to combat Squale and his men. Fortunately, Casserole, Pastry, and the others arrive in time to help Squale escape this tight squeeze.
Unsurprisingly, this is another episode that has Pastry get involved in a confrontation, but it’s only so he can get the goats to make Licorice a cake. Of course, he’s also doing it to make everyone happy with his creations. Considering how the war is nothing but a waste of life, as Licorice stated, it gives Pastry all the more reasons to fight against Lutoroute. While it seemed that this battle won’t last long in next week’s finale like the others, the episode still provides one last hurrah in its charm and humor, including Pastry’s tantrum over not getting the goats, before Pastry sets out to bake the season’s final treat.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
