English Dub Review: The Ancient Magus’ Bride “A small leak will sink a great ship. II”

Overview:

The students find the waste tower is equally full of mysteries and danger. Alice confronts Renfred again, and Seth and Lucy try to reconcile their past. Lizbeth’s message to the College is met with a cold response from Principal Quillyn.

Our Take:

This had better get another season that’s all I’m going to say. That’s it, that’s the review… Okay, I have a little bit more to say but I am really sad to see this one go, and just when some things start to get really good. That is a bit of a problem with slow-burn anime it seems, but I am a little hopeful that since this has got some OVA specials and a second season there might be some hope for a third.

The waste tower trip ended up being a bit more mundane than I thought. Some bad things seemed like they would happen but ultimately it could have been a lot worse. Something happened with Chise that I don’t think we’ve been told about before but it was definitely creepy.

The best part of the episode had to be Principal Quillyn defending Philomela from her shitty grandmother. I really like the school vibe that this anime has leaned into and I hope to get a lot more of it. Look forward to the season review because I know I am.
