English Dub Review: My Clueless First Friend “The Christmas Party Confession”
Overview:
Takada asks Nishimura an important question at their Christmas party.
Our Take:
Everyone is having fun at the Christmas party, but it’s obvious that Takada and Nishimura are being awkward around each other after seeing the kiss. They still manage to enjoy the party with their friends and exchange gifts. Takada and Nishimura are talking to each other in private at one point. Takada then asks Nishimura a shocking question: if he can kiss her. Nishimura tells Takada that he shouldn’t rush into that. He should only kiss someone he’s sure about and he says Nishimura fits that description. We don’t get that kiss, but this conversation lingers in Nishimura’s mind for the rest of the episode.
Takada and Nishimura also spend New Year’s together. They go to a shrine with Takada’s family and a couple of friends. They all have a good time there too and Nishimura is still thinking about what Takada said at the Christmas party. She’s unsure of what he really meant, but it’s obvious that he really cares about her.
When they go back to school, it’s time to change seats. Nishimura is separated from Takada at first. However, Adachi asks her if they can switch seats so she can see the board better. This puts Nishimura right next to Takada again. Takada thinks they’re destined to sit next to each other forever and so do I.
This show gives us yet another great episode. The scenes between Takada and Nishimura are very sweet. I figured we wouldn’t actually see them kiss, but that’s okay. Honestly, I think it’s too soon for that anyway. They are still just elementary school kids after all, so they have time. Still, it’s nice to know how strong Takada’s feelings for Nishimura are.
This episode has a lot of comedic moments as well. Kasahara getting drunk off of what everyone says is sparkling cider is hilarious. We also get to see Taiyou, Yukiko, and their mom together for the first time. It’s incredible how much they all act alike and I love seeing their interactions. We also see Hino’s parents for the first time and it’s easy to see the resemblance there as well.
Overall, I love this episode. One of my favorites so far and it makes me even more excited for the season finale next week. I’m sad to see this show end, but I’m excited to see how it will wrap up.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
