Blu-Ray Review: Justice League: Warworld
Our review of the movie not-withstanding, a home release could potentially redeem itself if there are at least some good special features to be had. While lacking in quantity, I quite enjoyed the special features for the home release of Justice League: Warworld.
Granted, both Illusions of Warworld and The Heroic, the Horrible, and the Hideous feature quite a lot of the film which makes them serve as trailers, but both feature pretty good deep-dives into the DC mythos and the inspiration and background of characters like Jonah Hex, Mongul, Lobo, and others. In fact, when you watch the movie and then watch these featurettes, you get to see exactly the inside thinking there was in the bastardization of DC comics characters. Mongul is clearly nerfed for the film, Harbinger already looks like a disappointment, and somehow the producers are still proud of the way Jonah Hex’s character design came to be(they really shouldn’t be).
With that said, the special features are useful to the home release. You get to watch the movie then see where it went wrong thanks to two eight-minute long featurettes that show you step-by-step the lack of creative thought that went into producing the feature film. Ironically, I think the Blu-Ray is better than just buying the film digital because at least you’ll learn something and if you’re following the thread that links the DC Animated films together and you’re a completionist on the subject, at least you don’t have to wonder whether or not MAX streaming will eventually remove this release.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
