English Dub Review: Hell’s Paradise: “Yin and Yang”
Overview: An injured Gabimaru (Alejandro Saab) tries to think his way out of the precarious situation as Asaemon Fuchi (Justin Briner) and Gantetsusai (Phil Parsons) stumble upon him.
Our Take: When it comes to fight or flight, Gabimaru’s first instinct very much falls within the former. His pushback against those tendencies has been a delight in how those steps manifest. Changing his approach, beyond merely violence and aggression, in befriending strangers like Tamiya Gantetsusai and Asaemon Fuchi, is a testament to that. Gabimaru’s continued strides highlight the more considerate human being he is becoming.
Asaemon Fuchi nicely serves a pragmatic voice of reason for the samurai, against any unnecessary bloodshed. Gantetsusai is an enjoyably boisterous personality and proud warrior, with his lofty ambition of recognition suiting him well. It is also for that very reason that Tamiya contrasts his reasonable overseer well.
The general lore surrounding the island also continues to impress. Mei and Hoko’s roles flesh out Tao and the universal role it plays in all living things on Shinsenkyo. Gabimaru’s gentler touch when approaching Mei is also a welcome change in his understanding of her scared and shy nature.
Shion’s instinctive use of Tao goes to show his prowess as a disabled swordsman, not to mention how deeply embedded it is within extraordinary individuals. His reluctant teacher/student relationship with Nuragai is off to a strong start. The anger and vulnerability over her lack of power allows a way to truly connect with her.
Chobei and Tomi just can not catch a break, surprisingly meeting a new enemy mere moments after escaping the hole. The Tensen’s sentient enforcer, Doshi, set themselves apart from the Soshin with their intelligence and Tao abilities. While they attack many, including Gabimaru, it feels especially relentless against Chobei and Tomi, considering what they endured. It makes one wonder if the flower pit is going to be their new home.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
