English Dub Review: Trigun Stampede “Millions Knives”

Overview:

After surviving the crash, Vash started life with Luida and Brad, while Knives formed an alliance with Conrad, the leader of the research group called the Sinners. The twins finally meet again in front of an array of plants that have turned red from overwork.

Our Take:

I was hoping we would get to see why Vash lost an arm and this little bout of flashbacks answered just that. Vash’s “plant” power (I know I need a better term but that’s what I’m working with) created a black hole in his arm so Knives had to cut off his arm to not get sucked in. This creates a lot of questions, like why hasn’t Vash done this again? Can he control it now? Does he miss his arm?

Luida and Brad gave Vash a home and a family when he needed it most. The surprising part was that they’ve known each other for 150 years. Whenever humans enter “cold sleep” they don’t age which was interesting to find out. Even more interesting is that Knife’s plan for the plants would make this world look an awful lot like the Earth we know and live on. I could just be grasping at straws but that’s what it looked like to me.
