English Dub Review: Handyman Saitou in Another World “Sad Dog Warrior”

Overview

When Saitou and the others learn that their friend has died and been buried in the wastelands at the edge of town, they gamble on a slim hope and spring into action. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to them, Morlock has had an unusual spell cast on him…

Our Take

In two separate subplots, Morlock has died, but I’m not too worried about the Morlock situation. This series has generally stayed safe from going too sad other than the daughter’s backstory so I think he’ll be fine. Plus the dwarf did mention Morlock might have a way of getting his energy back without killing the wolf and since the series decided to give the wolf a backstory I feel we’ll probably get the best outcome of both being saved. Just based on how the Ninja and Witch arc went…

For the other half, It took me a while to realize what was going on with the demon dog and how it would connect to what we were seeing, even Raelza’s backstory seems to be related. I wasn’t expecting the last part with Morlock asking Saitou something very sentimental regarding Raelza which was weirdly wholesome in its own way…

Overall, this episode excelled in terms of balancing out somber seriousness and comical shock humor. And the way it all came together as the episode went on left us with one hell of a cliffhanger clashing. And I look forward to seeing what happens next!
