English Dub Review: Bluelock “Donkey”

Overview:

Chigiri, Kunigami, and Reo’s team fully utilizes each other’s weapons of speed, physique, and eyes for tactics. On the contrary, Isagi’s team struggles due to the lack of coordination. Through observing and analyzing the opponent’s combinations and his teammates’ individual play, Isagi discovers a new way to use his weapon and evolve himself one step further. And the tide of ego in this game triggers others to evolve.

Our Take:

So I understand that you would think that for an episode to get a 10/10 it would have to be perfect. This episode had a few imperfections but I am going to look past those because of how hyped and awesome this was. Besides the imperfections weren’t that bad, just some bad CGI in a few spots.

What made this episode and series so great is the evolution of Isagi. That dude has come so far and I loved how he decided to handle Baro. Baro refused to work together and he would get things done on his own so Isagi decided to “devour” him. Since Baro didn’t want to be a team player he decided to use the other teams expectations against them. Baro became a very disgruntled decoy.

I’m not a huge soccer fan and I understand the tactics even less but the way Isagi gets the most out of his “puzzle pieces” is a joy to watch. I had a feeling that Nagi and Isagi would be a great pair but the problem is they’re going up against three people. I am so stoked to see how this match ends and even more intrigued on who they’ll pick to join them. Personally, I would go for Chigiri but something tells me this show will find a way to throw me for a loop.
