English Dub Review: Spy x Family “THE ROLE OF A MOTHER AND WIFE / SHOPPING WITH FRIENDS”
Overview:
Yor becomes anxious about their pretend marriage after Fiona shows up. Loid notices this and thinks that Yor had started to develop romantic feelings toward him. For the sake of the mission, he flips on his Twilight mode.
Becky takes Anya to the department store so they can buy Anya some cute clothes. She uses her rich girl powers and rents out a whole shop where they start their own little fashion show.
Our Take:
I am going to be sad when this one ends because it has been nonstop fun in every episode. Even this one that was more of a slice-of-life episode I had a great time because of the fantastic characters. Loid and Yor going out on a date is always a good time and I hope we get to see more of those in the future. I have my theories and hopes for this series and the main one is that they eventually stop being a pretend family and become a real family.
What also makes this anime fantastic is how wholesome it manages to be given the kind of terrible circumstances the world is in. Anya and Becky’s friendship is fantastic and I could be forgetting a chapter or two but I think their shopping spree in this episode was an anime-only thing. Such a great episode carried on the back of amazing characters.
There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
