English Dub Review: My Hero Academia “Tartarus”

Overview:

Under All For One’s control, Shigaraki attacks Tartarus with the Nomus to free All For One’s body, freeing many other prisoners in the process.

Our Take:

Things are not going well for the heroes right now. Their top hero is wrapped up in controversy while also undergoing intensive surgery. A couple of them actually died which is a bit crazy for a shonen show. One of the only shonen anime I can think of that has characters die and stay dead is Naruto. I would say we are into the serious side of things with My Hero Academia from here on out.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that I feel bad for Shigaraki but I can’t imagine losing control of my own body. I always had a feeling that All for One didn’t really care for Shigaraki but it is still a little bit sad to see. When Deku said “Shigaraki looked like he wanted to be saved” I felt sad but I ultimately hope that there is no saving him. Can we just have a villain who’s bad for once? I’m very interested to see how hero society reacts to all the events that just happened.
