English Dub Review: Shinobi no Ittoki “In the Light of Dawn”

Overview:

Koga attacks Iga village. Koga deploys a massive number of Asura, mechanical ninjas, to force Iga into submission by overwhelming force. Against the ropes, Ittoki forms a plan to reverse Iga’s fortunes.

Our Take:

What is it with anime that gets super interesting and drops all these interesting plot twists with only a couple of episodes left? There is so much going on now that I don’t know how they finish adequately unless there is a second cour on the horizon I have no idea about. There were so many crazy things that happened in this episode that I don’t even know where to begin. Up until this point, this anime has been more on the PG side of things. But there was a scene in this one that had more blood than I have seen in an anime outside of the new season of Bleach. This isn’t good for the character involved in that scene because I don’t see how they aren’t dead.

The stakes for this show haven’t really been all that high until now and I will come clean about not fully understanding everything that is happening. Kousetsu had something happen and I don’t know how it happened it was mind-boggling. I am being purposely vague so as to not spoil anything because I think this episode will need a little bit of a debrief in next week’s episode even. But one thing I can say is that we finally got to see Kousetsu’s face and I was expecting there to be a reason she wore her mask but I guess not. This show has gotten really, really interesting but unfortunately, it might just be too little too late.
