Blind Willow Sleeping Woman Gets Theatrical For United States

Set to premiere in New York sometime in April 2023, The Match Factory has sold animated feature film Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman. The feature comes from Pierre Földes and is inspired by several short stories by acclaimed Japanese author Haruki Murakami.

The film follows a lost cat, a giant talkative frog and a tsunami help a bank employee without ambition, his frustrated wife and a schizophrenic accountant to save Tokyo from an earthquake and find a meaning to their lives.

The film utilizes 3D modeling, traditional layouts, and live-action references as part of it’s aesthetic with Zeitgeist Films and Kino Lorber acquiring all US rights to the feature. As you can see from the trailer, an English language adaptation has already been produced
