English Dub Review: Remake Our Life! “Reveal Your Feelings”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Nanako’s singing practice is put to an unexpected test when a sudden change in programming for the university’s school festival presents an opportunity for her.
Our Take:
School festivals are a great way to unwind from schoolwork and have some fun. However, they also come with setbacks that force people to try to keep the fun going. This week’s episode is no different, as Kyoya and the others face a major dilemma that could spell disaster for the festival.
The situation is that the planned secret guest that’s supposed to close off the concert has a scheduling conflict and couldn’t make it to the festival. So Kyoya has to find a replacement singer to fill the role. He convinces Nanako to sing at the concert, but she doesn’t feel she’s ready to unleash her singing skills to the entire crowd.
“Reveal Your Feelings” continues the narrative introduced in last week’s episode, “Consider What You Can Do”, which has Nanako struggling with her passion for singing because of her pitches. However, with her confidence boosted by Kyoya’s recording of her songs, Nanako continued to practice her singing with his help. That episode was a thoughtful depiction of a person’s strive to pursue something they love despite the setbacks slowing them down. In “Reveal Your Feelings”, we see Nanako already taking on the significant task of facing her fears and singing at the festival concert.
Kyoya sees this as an opportunity for Nanako to express her talent to an audience. Unfortunately for the future superstar, it’s also something that could ruin the concert with only one tiny mistake in her pitch despite her practicing nonstop. Thankfully, Kyoya’s encouragement helped Nanako overcome her fear and perform one hell of a finale.
The encouragement comes from Kyoya’s video of Nanako practicing her singing. The successful ratings and feedback provided an advantage for the two to improve Nanako’s pitches. That scene alone is a suitable representation of how up-and-coming artists use feedback to improve their mistakes and keep what is necessary. It’s effective for the fine arts, such as filmmaking and singing, which is suitable for those in the same shoes as the characters.
The episode offers some hysterical outcomes we would expect from a school festival scenario, including a maid cafe. However, it also delivered a satisfying albeit predictable closure to Nanako’s first step towards her future. More importantly, it showcases Kyoya and Aki getting closer than ever during the festival, concluding with them finally kissing each other. Unfortunately, Nanako witnessed the whole scenario, which might spell doom to their friendship. It sounds like we might get a love triangle situation sooner or later.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
