English Dub Review: In the Land of Leadale “Rock Golems, a Chief, Skeletons, and Fairies ;Bear Hunting, a Queen, a Bath, and Monsters”
Overview
“Rock Golems, a Chief, Skeletons, and Fairies
As Caerina and the other knights struggle against a horde of rock golems who attacked them. Things start to look grim but then Cayna blasts the rock golems with lightning! Caerina thanks Cayna for saving them, but she can’t help but feel a bit of fear and jealousy at just how powerful Cayna is. Meanwhile, Cayna herself makes an interesting discovery…
Bear Hunting, a Queen, a Bath, and Monsters”
After returning to Felskeilo, Cayna finds a lot of quests available and takes on a quest from the white-tailed black rabbit. When she leaves the guild, she runs into Lonti and her academy friend Mye. Lonti was trying to find Cayna to ask if she could be Mye’s bodyguard because she ran away from home. Cayna then escorts the girls into the lush forest right outside of the city…
Our Take
For episode 6, I already knew Cayna would reach the point of indifference regarding people’s bullshit, after facing the dark truth of her existing reality, but she was all set to take out a potential threat which leaves you to wonder how long the said threat was around the real-fantasy-world? Did it just show up a few weeks ago? Because if it’s there for a decade (or decades even) it would be super weird for that creature to assume that all of this is a game where you can live a consequence-free life for better or worse.
As for episode 7, I’ll admit that when Mye first introduced herself, I thought she was just Mai-Mai in disguise trying to avoid Cayna’s wrath due to how the art style makes the two characters look near-identical face-wise, but. I only considered that she’s a completely different character with how she talks about Skargo and how she’s even afraid of Canya’s summoned creatures. I later thought there was going to be a problem with Cayna taking Mye with her which that’s why the Captain of the Knights visited the Guild, but it turned out to be a wholesome scene that also tells us that not everyone got isekai’d at the same time.
Overall, both episodes were decent in storytelling and execution, but I do like the consistent aspect that despite everything happening in the storyline, Cayna does love her kids and newly discovered grandkids and thinks fondly of them. I also think episode 7’s ending was one hell of a cliffhanger with the professor attempting to replicate Cayna’s healing potion only for it to sort of fail and work at the same time in the worst possible way…
