English Dub Review: Orient “Musashi & Kojiro”

Overview:

With the appearance of otherworldly oni, headed by the massively powerful Kishin, humanity has been forced to serve their new demonic masters. After 150 years of oni rule, the only force left to fight for human freedom are bands of Bushi. This is the story of two young men and their dream of forming the strongest Bushi band!

Our Take:

Isn’t it awkward when you’ve been dreaming of a career your whole life only to find out that you are essentially a slave to demons who will eat you if you don’t work? No, I’m not talking about corporate America here but I understand it’s hard to differentiate. Lucky for Musashi he was prepared his whole life to know that wasn’t the truth. Only he’s also kind of dumb but it all worked out in the end.

The animation is pretty good and the characters seem alright. So far they all seem pretty typical of a shounen show but it is only episode one so I imagine it will get better. I am looking forward to this one because it’s the first show I have reviewed where A.J. Beckles is the lead. He kind of stormed onto the scene last year and I am really looking forward to seeing what he can do. He did great in Kemono Jihen so I think he will do great here as well.
