English Dub Review: My Senpai Is Annoying: “Autumn, or Ordinary Days”

Overview: Takeda (Patrick Seitz) and Mona (Madeleine Morris) have an eating contest, which causes Futaba (Risa Mei) to become jealous. Later, Sakurai (Jennifer AuBuchon) and Kazama (Mark Allen Jr.) spend the day with Yuto (Bryn Apprill) with the former helping him with basketball skills.

Our Take: We get a look at some ordinary Autumn days indeed in the workplace with our favorite couples. Futaba is showcasing all the classic tsundere flavor profiles with this episode by showing, despite how she tries to appear, she truly cares for Takeda and becomes jealous at the thought of him bonding with another woman. The other woman this time being, Mona, who oddly enough he didn’t know was his co-worker even though it stands to reason they work in a small office and also should have seen each other at the company picnic, but whatever. Mona has always been an lovable oddball with her few shining moments with the main cast and this episode just gives me some more tidbits that are beyond enjoyable. Futaba’s emotions being clear as day makes it even more enjoyable when Takeda is able to read her so easily and make her feel better about their relationship, showing even more just how much he cares about her feelings.

When Kazama invites Futaba, Takeda and Natsumi to play basketball with him, Sakurai, and Yuto, Sakurai hints that its alright for him to be more selfish and keep her to himself, whereas when Sakurai struggles with her weight, Kazama helps her to enjoy herself every now and then and indulging in the food she eats like that of a hotdog. After spending the day helping Yuto develop his skills, this allows for a sweet ending moment with Kazama and Sakurai in each of them nudging each other in the right direction emotionally.
