FXX Gets Danny Devito/Aubrey Plaza Animated Horror Comedy “Lil Demon”
FX has ordered a new original animated comedy series Lil Demon set to sit alongside Cake and Archer which is slated to hit it’s twelfth season later this year. The series stars Aubrey Plaza, Danny and Lucy DeVito, and is being EP’d by Rick and Morty’s Dan Harmon. Shadowmachine is producing the animation while Danny DeVito’s Jersey Films is also producing.
Created by Darcy Fowler, Seth Kirschner and Kieran Valla, in Little Demon, 13 years after being impregnated by the Devil (Danny DeVito), a reluctant mother (Plaza) and her Antichrist daughter (Lucy DeVito) attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware, but are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter’s soul.
Our Take
FX on Hulu has an impressive list of original animation. This series should act as a nice hand-off should things with Archer go sour after the twelfth season.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
