Comic-Con@Home: The Simpsons Q&A and First-Look at Season 32
It is no exaggeration to say that in the realm of adult animation no series brings with it more experience than that of The Simpsons.
Operating for over 32 years, the crew that brings us The Simpsons have been along for the ride for decades. Or, in the case of a few select names, the entire duration of the series.
That also means that The Simpsons are old hats when it comes to San Diego Comic-Con. As well as supplying a rambunctious panel full of insight for the world of Springfield.
However, as many seasons as the series has under its belt, they have had to quickly adapt to Covid-19 along with everyone else. Yet, thanks to Comic-Con International, The Simpsons can still provide us with our annual dump of series insight through Comic-Con@Home.
The Simpsons @ Home was a unique panel that aired Saturday morning on the Comic-Con@Home website. Allowing fans to come into the homes of the panelists and share in their love for the franchise.
As has come to be expected from Simpsons panels, Yeardley Smith voice of Lisa Simpson, moderates the conversation which includes an A-list lineup of crew-members. And, this panel definitely brought out some of the big guns. Veteran showrunner and executive producer Al Jean. Executive producer Matt Selman who has had a 22-year consecutive run on the series. Carolyn Omine, who has scooped up four Emmys from her time writing for The Simpsons. As well as Supervising Animation Directors Mike B. Anderson and David Silverman, who has been with the show since the beginning and helped refine the particular style that we know and love today.
The virtual conversation was a fun event despite the lack of crowds filled with The Simpson fanatics. Which they remedied by bringing in a collection of some of the shows biggest super fans for a Q&A session.
Recording from home made the panel even better as fans and crew were able to show off some of their collectibles and some of their more interesting The Simpsons merchandise. And David Silverman was able to treat everyone with a rendition of The Simpsons theme song on one of his many tubas.
This was also our first chance to get a sneak peek into The Simpsons upcoming 32nd season.
We were treated to two separate clips from the new stock. We were greeted to the hour-long panel by Homer and a couple of his own variants, Homer Barbera and Disney Princess Homer. The other clip is from the upcoming “Treehouse of Horror XXXI”, and it explains where all of the Halloween candy ends up.

Additionally, as is also a sort of tradition, we received a few names of the guest stars we can anticipate for the next season. Hannibal Buress (Broad City), Olivia Colman (The Crown), Ben Platt (The Politician), and David Harbour (Stranger Things) are all set to hit Springfield. As well as Monty Python alum Sir Michael Palin. Apparently, another member of Monty Python’s glory days was given a spot but, it did not work out for whatever reason.
Truly, the best news to come out of the virtual panel is that The Simpsons is still in production and haven’t lost a beat despite everyone being quarantined. The entire operation was moved virtually within a week-and-a-half. Selman admits that the “strength of the show is in collaboration” but, they are making the best of it.
The Simpsons have also announced an upcoming collaboration with VANS foot wear. Details are sparse, but a website has been launched.
The Simpsons season 32 is set to premiere on September 27, 2020, during Fox’s Animation Domination lineup.
You can watch the full Simpsons @ Home panel for free on the Comic-Con@Home website or on YouTube.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
