Our Take
The biggest mistake comic companies made during this pandemic is not releasing new issues digitally until physical comic stores returned. Had major comics publishers not done this, and instead just released digital or direct mail, the publishers would’ve had continued revenue streams that could have allowed some of those cancelled DC titles to stay alive. While comic producers’ insisting that everyone wait on new comic buys until the physical stores come back is putting a band-aid on the overall likely scenario that comics stores are a thing of the past and will likely not make it through the next decade much in the same way other retail outlets like Gamestop and the like are shuttering stores, expect the last of the comic stores here in the United States to do the same.
