UK News: Disney+ “The Simpsons” ; Britbox Orders “Spitting Image” Revival

Streaming service Britbox has ordered two seasons of the Spitting Image revival, with the first season coming Fall 2020 and the next season coming in 2021. Characters like Dominic Cummings, James Corden, Donald Trump, RuPaul, Boris Johnson, Beyoncé, Elon Musk, Harry & Meghan, Bernie Sanders, Prince Andrew, Adele, and Vladimir Putin will all be part of the reprisal of the classic adult puppet comedy.

Show co-creator Roger Law will be the showrunner of the revival that sees satirical portrayals of Planet Earth’s most important figures. The series originally ran from 1984 to 1996, 18 seasons of Spitting Image that took on the likes of Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, and a host of other well-known figures.

Disney+ has announced that their UK streaming service will indeed have The Simpsons as part of it’s offerings, following up on the hints from the other day which all but confirmed that.  Six hundred episodes will be made available on March 24th after a recent deal with Disney & Sky was reached that will allow the two media conglomerates to behold “co-exclusives” to the longest running animated series in primetime.
