Mike Judge Checks In To 2019 With His Annual Tease Of Reviving “Beavis and Butt-Head”
Mike Judge is good for one tease a year about reviving either Beavis and Butthead or King of the Hill for new seasons (funny no one asks him about The Goode Family) and that happened yet again earlier this week. In talking to Slashfilm, the busy producer seemed to quell any of those flair ups last year of King of the Hill potentially coming back (though he says it’s doing super well on Hulu), but that Beavis and Butthead might have an idea for future iterations for both film (He would direct any follow-up to Do America) or television:
“They seem to be still interested in that,” Judge said. “I’ve got some ideas. I think it would have to be something that makes it relevant today. I think I might’ve figured out a way to do that.”
Our Take
As mentioned Mike teases once a year about some of his classics being revived for additional seasons only for them not to come to fruition. With MTV’s recent announcement of opening up it’s treasure troves of IP to streaming services as sources for content. On the table are franchises like the aforementioned Beavis and Butthead, Daria (which earlier this year announced had an animated spin-off in the works), and more. King of the Hill was teased during FOX’s final days of life before Disney bought 20th Century FOX, but the article seems to indicate that one isn’t as likely.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
