Blu-Ray Review: Batman and Harley Quinn
Batman and Harley Quinn is a solid entry in the DC Animated Universe (DCAU). It’s not quite the masterpiece which was Mask of the Phantasm, but if you can get past its goofiness, Batman and Harley Quinn presents a fun-filled story. But how does the home video release hold up?
I snagged the limited edition gift set of Batman and Harley Quinn, and the packaging is excellent. Like my Teen Titans: The Judas Contract set, there’s a larger outer box which housed the Blu-Ray case, a 96-page comic book, and Harley Quinn action figure.
In addition to the Blu-Ray, there’s a copy of the film on DVD and a digital version as well. Sure, it’s the same film across all three platforms, but that’s a nice touch including so many medium options.
Plus, it’s packed with special features. There’s “The Harley Effect,” which explores the Harley Quinn character. With her appearance in Suicide Squad, Quinn became one of the most popular DC characters. There’s a featurette with Loren Lester that concentrates on his voice acting, and a sneak peeks of the forthcoming DCAU flick Batman: Gotham by Gaslight. Finally, you’ll find two bonus cartoons. This is a great inclusion, and like on the Teen Titans Blu-Ray release, it’s one of my favorite features.
The Last Call graphic novel is enjoyable, and I like how Batman and Harley Quinn includes this as a reminder of the source material’s origin story: on paper. Before coming to the big and small screens, comics thrived (and still flourish) on pages. The Harley figure is made of premium plastic and looks excellent on my media shelf next to my Blue Beetle figure.
Overall, the Blu-Ray release of Batman and Harley Quinn is a fantastic pickup. The movie itself is a neat, and unique, addition to the DCAU. Plus it’s loaded with bonus features for a few hours of entertainment. Even the vanilla Blu-Ray or DVD is a good buy, but if you can snag the limited edition box set with a Harley Quinn figurine and comic book, it’s a superb addition to your home video collection.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
