Review: Knuckleheads “Tales from the Wood”

Some of these tails have horns on their head.

Spoilers Below

Barry tells this story about losing the beer and how he got it back. Turns out, Barry ran into a talking frog who was turned into it after cheating on his lady. Barry kisses him and it turns the frog back into a human wearing a frogman suit.

Unfortunately, Barry still needs to find his beer so he goes with his new pal to meet a guy to find a guy named Buzz that tells everyone about “Big Norm” who is coincidentally having a beach party and took Barry’s beer. After taking a fistful of mushrooms, Barry wakes up at Big Norm’s party. At the party, we learn that Big Norm didn’t take the beer and Morgan turns everyone into frogs. Fortunately, Barry is able to kiss them back into ‘beings’. On the way back, Barry learns that his truck is like a Transformer named Bobby, and HE was the one that took the beer.

Barry wraps his story and Mike tells us why he’s making stacks of grilled cheese. Turns out, Mike had summoned the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse while Barry was away after he found an old creepy book in the furnace. A little devil shows up and tried to warn him, but Mike does it anyway. To help ward off planetary destruction, Mike convinces the Horsemen that there’s a lot to live for on Earth by making grilled cheese but the guys leave before he can intro them to Barry.

Our Take

We sure got a lot of end of the world scenarios that have already happened with more on the way when it comes to Knuckleheads. This week’s episode did a nice job of intertwining two flashback stories that coalesce to a twist of an ending.

Along the way, we get some pretty funny ancillary characters. Morgan and the witch casting spells on their cheating man amongst a forest that has unicorns, sasquatches, and more. All this put together because a couple of dudes wanted to drink a couple of beers and hang out in the woods. And I totally agree with Mike, NOTHING beats grilled cheese and chilling.
