Toonami announced at their live Pre-Flight panel at San Diego Comic Con last night that the much requested Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure the Animation will be airing on Toonami this October.

Phantom Blood

Plot synopsis of Phantom Blood: Beginning its tale in 19th century England, young aristocrat Jonathan Joestar finds himself locked in bitter rivalry with Dio Brando, a low-born boy who Jonathan’s father took under his wing after the death of Dio’s father. Discontent with his station in life, Dio’s fathomless lust to reign over all eventually leads him to seek the supernatural powers of an ancient Aztec stone mask in the Joestar’s possession—an artifact that will forever change the destiny of Dio and Jonathan for generations to come.

Viz Media had announced at Anime Expo earlier this month that it will release Part 1 (Phantom Blood) of the new JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure television anime series on Blu-ray Disc. The Blu-ray Disc release will include an English dub. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, who released Parts 1 and 2 in a DVD set, still holds the DVD rights to the series.

Viz Media had also announced in March that it would stream JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Parts 1, 2, and 3, (As well as the the ongoing Part 4 anime series at the time of this post.) The company previously announced in February 2015 that it was the North American master merchandise licensee for the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime series, but clarified at the time that the license agreement covered the merchandise based on the anime, not the anime itself.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment released Parts 1 and 2 of the series on DVD with an English dub on September 22.
