Review: Wander Over Yonder “The Family Reunion ; The Rival”

The Family Reunion
Instead of continuing the fight against Dominator, Sylvia ops to bring Wander to meet his family. Mom is pissed at Sylvia because she left without saying anything, but the brothers seem to be happy that their long lost sister is home. Eventually the whole family gets into an argument because Sylvia keeps getting bossed around by her mother. Wander decides to see if he can step in the middle of this quarrel of which we find out the reason why Sylvia’s mom is annoyed is because she thinks Sylvia should be out helping people. Wander closes shit out by hugging the hell out of everyone.
Our Take
Well, this was a nice change of pace. Delving into a little bit of Sylvia’s back story I think better makes me appreciate her more. Ordinarily, she’s the one that’s rough around the edges, but really she’s just a big marshmallow. I’m not sure I entirely bought in on the conflict as I thought the premise for that was kind of lame, but to see a whole world of Sylvia-esque dinos was rather exciting, and one I hope we come back to.

The Rival
Emperor Awesome is moving in on Hater’s turf when it’s presumed the shark is dating Lord Dominator. Jerry is sent in by Hater and Peepers to see what’s going down, and we find out that Awesome may have a new secret weapon for Dominator to check out. She’s rather interested, but when Jerry goes away, Peepers and Hater goes in undercover for a closer look. When Dominator finds out what the secret weapon is, she isn’t impressed, and instead throws Awesome, Hater, and everyone else out of her ship in a torrential furor. Hater’s convinced that Dominator’s into him…but Peepers doesn’t see that way at all.
Our Take
I’m getting a little bored of Hater running around to gain Dominator’s affections. I suppose throwing in Emperor Awesome was an ok idea to spice things up, but at this juncture this argument between Peepers and Hater is just running its course in my opinion.
