ICYMI: The Simpsons pay tribute to Paris/Howard Stern
Fans watching The Simpsons this past Sunday got glimpses of two very special tributes for varying reasons. For starters, The Simpsons paid tribute to the recent terrorist attacks in Paris with a message that has become the universal call sign for peace during a time of great distress in Europe:
The other shout out was an ode that was probably put in the script from the get go, that being this shout out to Howard Stern. Anyone whom has seen Howard’s Private Parts movie knows exactly what this is in reference to:
Of all the shows on FOX, The Simpsons are still the best at being the most topical series. The series has managed to adapt to different trends, and as such, is the only series technically adept to react to world events on a weekly basis on network television (South Park has been doing it for years for cable). From animated shorts, to fairly regular tributes, and couch gags produced by some of the best in the world, The Simpsons continue to showcase the comic strip roots of Matt Groening.
