English Dub Review: Death Parade “Death Rally”
Overview (Spoilers Below)
Death Parade never ceases to amaze me. From the amazing opening theme and animation, to the different types of stories, to the way the plot is relayed to us, nothing about Death Parade has really been seen before. This week, “Death Rally” presents itself as a murder mystery as much as it does a “normal” episode of Death Parade. Hell, even the detective sounds like a really good Robert Stack impersonator. You know, he’s the guy from Unsolved Mysteries.
As much as this is an episode of Death Parade, this episode feels different. It’s the piecing together of who’s the murderer. Going through the episode, you think that you have the plot figured out. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the twist is huge. I think how the writers of Death Parade were able to piece together the feel of one type of show, and integrate it into a show that already does a fantastic job of telling a story. It’s borderline masterful.
The only thing wrong with “Death Rally” is that it’s continuing next week. “Death Rally had me on the edge of my seat, mainly because I wanted to know what’s going on with both Shimada and Tatsumi. Both of them are on the brink of insanity because of what happened to important people in their lives. However, if waiting a week is the sacrifice I have to make just to make sure that this murder mystery gets its just due is perfectly fine with me. Most shows need to take a cue from Death Parade in this regard.
I’ve said it before. The production quality in Death Parade is top notch. So much detail has been given to almost every nook and cranny of this place. The best part is that they still haven’t gone into to detail about the black haired woman. There is so much that has to resolve before the season finale in a few weeks. I am going into overload just thinking about it.
