English Dub Review: Kaiju Girl Caramelise “Don’t Cry, Heartbroken Kaiju'”

Episode 10 of Kaiju Girl Caramelise is an important one. Secrets are uncovered, relationships transform, and the series approaches a crucial point. The story builds on the emotional developments of the previous episodes, but it appears that a major turn is just around the corner. As with almost every episode, relatable problems remain at the center of the story.

Kuroe’s feelings for Arata once again create both humorous and uncomfortable situations. Her relationship with Arata hits a rough patch, and she becomes completely overwhelmed. The emotional pressure and her insecurities become too much for her to contain. Several other factors contribute to her distress, and she begins questioning her relationships with those around her. Her reactions feel believable, and she seems like every other girl despite her supernatural abilities. 

Her struggles remain familiar, but this episode introduces a greater sense of tension. Daichi’s subplot also contributes to the episode’s developments, as his actions lead Kuroe to make assumptions about where she is in life.

The episode strikes a good balance. It combines serious elements, comedy, and romantic awkwardness while maintaining the original light-hearted charm. What is even more interesting is that no single element completely dominates the story. Instead, they complement one another and keep the episode engaging. 

All in all, the latest episode is an enjoyable continuation of Kaiju Girl Caramelise. It may not be the high point of the series we are all hoping for, but it succeeds in raising our expectations for what comes next. The episode leaves the story in an intriguing position as Kuroe confronts increasingly complicated emotions and relationships.
