Review: Durarara!!x2 “When in Rome, Do As the Romans Do”

durararax2 ep 4

“When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do” is yet another continuation of the previous two episodes. This time, however, we get story progression! Also, we get to see a little bit more than a Quentin Tarrantino style chronology to the story. Thankfully, Celty, was able to escape the fracas with Igor’s help…but you wouldn’t know it until later in the episode.

What’s going on here is that this plot is going increasingly deep. You have Igor, who was supposed to capture Celty, the Orihara twins who helped, and the change of heart that Igor had. You need to really keep track of all of the plot strings to get the most out of Durarara!!x2. Shinra plays it hard on the romance, but at least things are moving along. However, these stupid chatroom segments are starting to piss me off. I can’t get involved when I can’t read Japanese. And before you say they’re voiced over, it doesn’t do much for me to understand what’s going on. Before I know it, they’re on to something else.

Yeah, there’s a lot of moving parts going on here. You have Izaya still playing at information broker, and now it seems his companion may begin her own play. You have one group doing a hot-pot, and a gang meeting. this is all within the last five minutes. So, suffice to say, there’s a lot of spoilers, and a lot of things You need to see instead of reading it here. Like I said previously, Durarara!!x2 is very slick and stylish. I was worried about not enjoying it, but Durarara!!x2 is complex, stylish, and the all of the characters are easy to get into. Every time I say Durarara!!x2 can’t get better, it does.
