Bubbleblabber vs Carl’s Stone Cold Pick of the NFL Week 14: Panthers vs Saints

Both Carl and myself are coming off of losses after picking the Cowboys to beat the Eagles, which looking back was the wrong pick because the Cowboys were coming off of a Sunday Night game only to play a Thursday Night game, and you could totally tell the guys were gassed in the 3rd Quarter. Right after the game critics were talking shit about Tony Romo whom with a cracked rib would defeat the Chicago Bears just the other night. Now everyone is picking the Cowboys as NFC dark horses, but to do that they may have to go through one of these teams in an NFC playoffs battle. Now you may think that the Panthers being 3-8-1 and the Saints being 5-7, that would never work…but it does. You see, if Carolina wins this game, and the Falcons lose, BOOM the Panthers are tied for first place, in which case a tie would ensue. If Atlanta loses the rest of its games, then the Panthers are your division leader. Same scenario for the Saints, so there’s a lot riding here. Watch Carl’s picks:

The Panthers haven’t been good this season, so all those hopes I just gave fans of this team should dissipate. Having Greg Olsen back should help Cam Newton from having to do it all on his own, but I can’t see the Superdome being quiet as we head into playoff season. That said, no DeAngelo Williams takes away from a team that needs to run more in order to close out games, but this shouldn’t be an issue here as the Saints will be up by 30 before half time.

New Orleans Saints

There could be a bit of a shit going on between Rob Ryan and Sean Peyton, but Drew Brees is on this team and he runs it anyway. The Saints have struggled at home this season. A spat about 12 men on the field won’t get Ryan fired, but a 31st ranked defense will. Even if the Saints get out, it’s going to be an early exit because I’m pretty sure small children can run against this team and have success.
