We have five animated options to replace ”The Colbert Report”

First thing’s first…congrats to Stephen Colbert for getting the David Letterman gig. Here’s a guy who used to work the voice-acting scene just as much as anybody not even 15 years ago! Harvey Birdman, Venture Bros., and Ambiguously Gay Duo are just SOME of the awesome shows he has worked on in the early 2000’s and now he’s the Late Show host!

But, now we have a glaring need to fill the spot left by The Colbert Report on Comedy Central and we need to fill that spot some how. I’m sure there are some more practical options in filling that time slot like giving Jon Stewart an extra 3o minutes to skewer cable news or to give Chris Hardwick more time to read tweets on TV. But, I have a few other ideas that I think should be considered when Colbert vacates the time-slot in 2015:

5) Clone High

Look, EVERYONE that used to work on this show, wants it to come back. Phil Lord and Chris Miller basically did a campaign for it during the Lego Movie press run, Bill Lawrence wants it, shit even Abe Lincoln wants it back! So maybe Comedy Central can do a 10-episode run? The network would be the only candidates really on TV besides MTV to pick up the series due to the fact that we have a Viacom-owned network and it’s easier to transition those contracts then say an MTV to FOX type thing.

4) Ted: The Animated Series

HERE ME OUT before you go bonkers. I have this great idea for a Ted animated series where it’s Ted and John growing up in Boston and what that was like. If you recall from the film the writers took  a cue from the Bible where they kinda just skip 30 years from when Ted and John first met to a more present-day setting. Seth MacFarlane has never had his OWN animated series on a different network other than FOX, and I think with Comedy Central having looser language-restrictions the network would make a great fit.

3) Ugly Americans

This is a series most if not all Adult Swim fans really want on their network and rightfully so. I absolutely miss the dynamic between Randy, Callie, and Mark and I certainly miss all of the hysterical monsters that used to run around the government facilities. So why not bring Ugly Americans back and put it on after a series that talks of all of the real ugly Americans ala Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly.

2) Beavis and Butthead

A couple years ago, Comedy Central ran a Beavis and Butthead/South Park marathon that was so awesome I had to shed a tear. Can you imagine if we had Beavis and Butthead back PAIRED UP with South Park? Life would be awesome and I’m sure people working at the PTC would literally pull their collective hair out in disgust because they suck.

1) Futurama

Futurama_-_The_Future

By far the biggest franchise on this list of franchises. Futurama still needs a home, and Matt Groening says he has more stories to tell with this universe so I say BRING IT BACK! This summer is going to feel weird as hell not having any Futurama on, so maybe Summer 2015 we can bring the show back, yea?

What say you? Come up with ideas for shows that YOU would like to see come on after Daily Show.
