REVIEW: CHOZEN “LACED”
WARNING: SPOILERS B.
This week’s Chozen was on point. By the time I was about ¾ of the way through I thought to myself “There you go son.” It just felt well rounded as fuck. The weirdest part was that I started feeling genuinely proud, like I had something to do with [the making of] the show. I guess being a fan is being a “part” of the show in a sense – so yeah, just go ahead and throw Achille$ in the credits from now on dudes. It’s only fair.
Let me just give you a little plot taste son – a quick lil’ bump to get you goin’. Chozen’s homeboy from jail, Jamal, is finally released from the pen and the two jump back into their old antics. Although Jamal is everything that Chozen looks for in a cool-ass-dude-who-he-also-bangs, it ends up putting strain on his relationships with Tracy, Crisco, and Ricky ’cause homey is pretty rough around the edges. I mean – this is a show, so, of course they weren’t going to get along – shit has to go haywire because show.
Sub-plot. OH WORD THERE’S A SUB-PLOT? OH WAIT AND YOU ACTUALLY GIVE A SHIT? Yup. The sub-plot here was actually of the non-shitty variety, which was especially suprising since Troy and Jimmy (who are in it) can be pretty hit or painfully miss in my books. Sorry, Danny McBride and Nick Swardson – y’all are two funny as fuck motherfuckers, but I just don’t feel like your characters are hitting the aimed for mark in all attempts. Having to say that (being honest), makes me physically hurt but like, I have to, because job. SO, in this sub-plot Troy and Jimmy end up crushing a shit-ton of Adderal and playing a fuck-ton of “Days of Yore” – which is basically World Of Warcraft (or WoW). This storyline hit home for me in all the right places for the following reasons: I’ve played more WoW than I’m proud of, I’ve ingested more Adderal than I’m proud of, THERE WAS A FANTASY RAP SONG. The rap basically made my whole day, ESPECIALLY since it was probably the best rap on the show to date (like seriously though, even the hook was legitimately catchy.
Note: I’ve never played WoW while running on overdrive via Addies, but I have gotten really blazed via good ole Moonajuana and played Starcraft – so I guess that’s like, related. Not sure where I was going here. Whatever, because artistic license.
Overall, in conclusion, therefore, in life as in literature – this was POSSIBLY the best episode of Chozen so far (with the pilot being a fierce competitor). I laughed out loud multiple times, there was a dope song, and the writing was impressively creative.
Let’s fucking GO Chozen, I’m rooting for y’all. I was originally going to give this a 9, but that fantasy rap pushed y’all mothafuckas to a 9 point feezly. SHITTIN ON EM.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
