Netflix wants to go fast again…makes deal with Comcast

According to Deadline, Netflix has just entered into a deal with Comcast that will make its service quicker to access for Xfinity customers. In the past, Netflix had to go through third-party cable providers in order to provide its streaming services, but with the growing popularity, customers had reported an increase in load-times. This came to a head this past October when it was reported that the streaming speeds dropped 27%.

This could lead to increased charges by Netflix in the future. That’s because not only does Netflix have to pay out for access to Comcast’s broadband network, but they will presumably have to do the same thing for Time Warner Cable, Verizon, and AT&T services. Usually if a company has to to pay out more and more, the customers are the first to feel it, with employees close behind.

This deal between Netflix and Comcast is a multi-year deal, but we haven’t heard when customers will get the faster streaming speeds.
