Adult Swim to start at 8pm beginning in March; Cartoon Network adding digital offerrings
HUGE news from Atlanta last night in terms of schedule changes. That’s because Cartoon Network will be giving its 8pm hour over to Adult Swim which means that yes Adult Swim will now start earlier.
According to Deadline.com, the 8pm hour will now do away with any brand-new content from Cartoon Network, and will instead feature back-to-back episodes of King of the Hill and Cleveland Show. What this also sounds like is that Adult Swim may be looking to add more original content to the 10 pm block.
The changes will go into effect March 31st and will see Cartoon Network trying its ‘early-prime time’ that starts at 6pm and goes until 8pm which will include programming like Regular Show and Adventure Time. I think this officially spells the end for shows like Annoying Orange and possibly MAD, but I think Steven Universe comes back along with the pretty much confirmed Uncle Grandpa.
To go along with the time-shift, Cartoon Network will be debuting more digital content on CartoonNetwork.com including free games, shorts, interstitials, short-form and traditional series. The full slate of new and returning shows are said to be returning March 31st.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
