English Dub Review: Dusk Beyond the End of the World ” ‘Don’t Cry’, She Said”

Overview:

Amoru wants to be with Akira and Yuugure, but circumstances make that an impossibility. But what if there was a way to make her wish come true?

Our Take(Spoilers):

The hits just keep on coming. After the events that transpired, Akira was forced into a sleep mode of sorts. Yuugure connects with him to help; they will both be asleep anywhere from a few hours to years. They end up being asleep for seven years, and Amoru watches over them the whole time. When Akira and Yuugure wake up, she thinks things will go back to normal, but they were together the whole time they were asleep. Now, after hearing that the real Akira might still be alive, they set out to find him, and Amoru feels left out. She starts to seek out a way to be like them, and in her vulnerable state, Yokurata begins to show his true colors.

Yokurata being a villain wasn’t a surprise, but the Amoru villain arc was a nice twist. He puts Amoru’s consciousness inside the body of Yoiyami. It sounds like they’re both in the body because when she speaks, we can hear both voices. I don’t think this is going to go like she hopes it will. My theory of what will happen is that a fight will ensue, and Amoru will be killed, but her consciousness will be put in Yuugure’s body. In this way, they can all three be together in the most bittersweet way possible. We’ll have to watch next week to find out!
