Review: Lucas Bros. Moving Company ‘Freedom Town’

Spoilers Below

The Lucas Bros. moved a couch into the local bar, but Jerrod makes the boys get rid of it after finding out the furniture as bed bugs. Turns out the Lucas’ have a hard time in getting rid of old shit, so Jerrod convinces them to get rid of the couch. The duo head to the field and try their best to get rid of the couch, but they really miss the dirty looking deal. On the way back, the guys get distracted and nearly hit a moose, but worse yet the guys head off of a cliff and crash the van. The guys head to a local bar and run into this fella that ends up being the Lucas’ daddy! Problem is, Lucas’ dad wants nothing to do with his kids and to prove it he takes refuge in a town called ‘Freedom Town’, a town where dads don’t have to deal with their kids and can just be free men. Fortunately, Mr. Lucas offers to help the boys to fix their van, but they have to keep it a secret that all of the Lucas’ are related. The local mechanic is a bit suspicious, so much so that he confronts the boys at a poker party hosted by Mr. Lucas. At first, Mr. Lucas nearly kills his own kids, but after a speech and throwing a rather rare baseball, all of Freedom Town disappears. The guys get their van fixed and head back to their hometown bar with their couch and now a monkey. The guys relax listenin’ to the jukebox, but the couch still has bed bugs.

Our Take

This week’s episode certainly took a step back in a number of different ways for the Lucas Bros. For starters, there were really no fantasy elements that prior episodes did such a great job in showing off. And yes, while the couch and even Freedom Town both offered up some entertaining moments, I just thought this week’s episode seemed a bit TOO ordinary.
