We drop in on the Queen of England to see how her animated adventures are coming along.

With over a million followers on twitter, the Queen_UK parody account appears to be doing very well indeed. After launching an impressive (and official) looking website, the  mysterious comedy team behind Gin O-Clock announced in October that they were initiating a weekly animated series on Yahoo’s UK comedy channel.

Now 4 episodes in, I thought it was time to check out how things are going for Her Majesty and the rest of the Windsors and I have to say, the royal household is looking a lot more exciting than the papers would have you believe. Oh, it’s not based on real life events? Well, that’s a let down.

Although sometimes hard to read, you can usually get a good feel for a series based on the comment section and for Queen_UK animations it was a mixed bag, people seemed to either love or hate the show, with very little in between emotions being expressed. If asked, I probably would have said it’s a bit “meh” but I seem to be the only one who thinks that way. The animation is good quality with reasonably appealing art and very good likenesses, but the jokes are a bit hit and miss. You do wonder how much of series the creators can get from the internet equivalent of a one liner but they seem to be managing OK, with subjects ranging from the newest member of the household, Prince George, to Harry’s adventures overseas, the writers haven’t run out of material, yet.

Yes Ma’am is a series I would recommend keeping an eye on, it has its merits, its worth watching to monitor the cute factor of Her Majesty’s corgis alone, so I encourage you to check it out and make your own mind up. However, with new episodes every Friday, the series is setting itself a punishing schedule and I’d hate to see any animation fail because they set themselves an impossible task. The twitter account hasn’t been updated for a month so I’m guessing all Yes Ma’am’s eggs are laying in the animated basket!

Here’s the latest episode, see if it takes your fancy then head on over to Yahoo to watch the rest.
