Review: Brickleberry ‘Trip to Mars’
Spoilers Below
Today’s a pretty awesome day as WE (as in MAN) are going to MARS!! That and a new mall opens. Problem is that Malloy can’t get into the mall because he’s a bear, and Steve’s gotta break it to a local Native American tribe that they gotta move their asses off Brickleberry. NASA director Theroux shows up and kicks Woody out of his office and for some reason Steve drinks some old-timey Native American beverage which causes him to trip out. Malloy decides to team up with the Native Americans and he wants to rally them to take down the white man. They start by storming the mall and looting everything they see. Theroux navigates the Mars mission at Brickleberry and Steve is still tripping. All of the sudden, Steve shows up on the broadcast which pretty much tells the park employees that the Mars landing was fake as hell and THEY know the truth. The problem is so does the rest of America.
Theroux decides to pass off Steve going nuts as an alien encounter on NASA’s fake Mars. We find out that Theroux is a director and he’s been staging Mars landings for the past 50 years. Theroux continues on with the bull shit and it gets even more odd when Steve starts to come to. While Malloy is still running shit at the mall, Theroux decides to start commencing experiments on Steve with plans to make sure the Ranger of the Month NEVER leaves!
Malloy has left the mall downtown pretty much in shambles and the park crew need to bust Steve out of captivity. There was a plan, but only Ethel goes through with her part which leaves Theroux to call a press conference to announce Steve dying live on television. The park employees need a new plan and this time Woody has to take one in the ass for the team.
Woody convinces Malloy and the rest of his Native American friends to help him break Steve out of his confines. Woody and the gang dress up as Martians and threaten Earth that if Steve doesn’t come back then America is destroyed. The President calls and this leads Theroux to play along and to give Steve back to the park Martians. Steve ends up smashing up the set anyway and it gets Theroux arrested.
In terms of complexity, this was one of the most impressive Brickle episodes I can remember in terms of putting together a plot that had a BUNCH of threads and really seeing them interwoven in a pretty nice bow. The episode CRUSHED me in laughs, with rampant racism, conspiracy theories, and Dr. Kuzniak just SLAYING everything he touches, there was enough for everyone here. My small gripe is that I loved the way Todd died, but I thought he was going to be a bigger part of the episode with the way he was presented. In any case, a Trip to Mars was a fun trip indeed.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
