Praise Petey Now On Prime Video
One time Freeform original animated comedy Praise Petey has launched on Prime Video with all ten episodes of the series now available for streaming.
The series centers on Petra “Petey” St. Barts (voiced by Annie Murphy), a popular New York City “it girl” whose perfectly curated life falls apart in a single day. Her luck changes—or so it seems—when she receives a mysterious gift from her recently deceased father, a town in West Carolina called New Utopia. Upon arriving, Petey discovers that her father was not only a wealthy eccentric but also the leader of a small-town cult.
Suddenly thrust into a new life as the charismatic leader of this community, Petey decides to put her “girl boss” energy to use. She attempts to “de-weirdify” the cult and modernize it with her city sensibilities, all while navigating the bizarre traditions, which include human sacrifices and peculiar customs. The show cleverly uses this premise to explore themes of belonging, finding purpose, and the nature of community, whether it’s in a workplace or a cult.
Praise Petey boasts an impressive voice cast that brings its eccentric characters to life:
- Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek) leads as the naive but determined Petey.
- John Cho (Star Trek) voices Bandit, a skeptical local and potential love interest who despises what Petey’s father did to the town.
- Christine Baranski (The Good Fight) provides the voice for Petey’s cold and distant mother, White St. Barts.
- Kiersey Clemons (The Flash) plays Eliza, a no-nonsense local and Petey’s new best friend.
- Stephen Root (Barry) voices Petey’s deceased father, the former cult leader, who appears in tapes throughout the series.
The series is also executive produced by adult animation heavyweights Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-Head, King of the Hill) and Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation), lending it a distinct style and comedic pedigree.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
