English Dub Review: Call of the Night “2nd Night: I’ve been looking for you.”

Overview:

Ko’s alarm bells go off when he meets Mahiru’s new friend. Mahiru may not know what Kiku is, but Ko does.

Our Take:

What are the odds that both Ko and Mahiru end up involved with vampires? Ko could tell that Kiku was a vampire right away and ran off. She caught up with Ko and wondered why he smelled like a vampire. After explaining everything, it seemed okay, but there’s something off about Kiku. She told Mahiru that she was a vampire like Ko wanted, but after Mahiru said it wouldn’t change anything, she went full yandere mode. This was around the time I stopped reading the manga, so I don’t know what Kiku’s deal is, and that has me intrigued to see what happens.

To give Mahiru an idea of what vampire life is like, Ko asks Akihito and Hatsuka to give him some advice. They decide to go to a bathhouse and chat, which goes well. Mahiru is coming around to the idea of becoming a vampire, and now my only concern is what exactly Kiku’s motivations are. Well, that and the fact that Anko, the vampire hunter, is waiting for them at the bathhouse. Hopefully, everyone survives next week.
