Review: Axe Cop ’28 Days Before’

It’s Thanksgiving Day and EVERYONE’s in town to take part in the festivities. Turns out Axe Cop LOVES Thanksgiving and he’s all about helping those in need, but this year he’s missing. We find that just 28 days earlier, Axe and Flute Cop went trick or treating and NO ONE on the block seems to have any candy and Axe isn’t going home until he has 1000 pieces of candy. It’s here he calls Wexter and flies to a Uni-Planet to visit Uni-Man for some awesome candy. Unfortunately, even UNI’s been robbed of his candy, so he turns to his candy tracking machine and finds out that the candy is going to ‘Thanksgiving-World’, a planet ruled by Turkey Turkey and an army of pilgrims. This Turkey Turkey is all bad-news and despite Uni-Man’s misgivings Axe and Ghost Cop are pretty excited about going only to get captured and put in an oven. The guys get cooked like a turkey, so they fall asleep from all of the tryptophan. Axe Cop has a dream that Season Man shows up and saves everyone and of course it comes true, but Season ends up getting killed.Ghost Cop puts a grenade in Turkey Turkey which is good because this means Axe Cop can collect his 1000 candy and his turkey head!

Wow, Axe Cop is really on a role here as the show is getting back to its early season groove where the writers were just coming up with awesome plot lines and intergalactic adventures that helped make the original comics the success they eventually became. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of a huge battle between the pilgrims and our heroes, but the introduction of new characters like Uni-Man, Turkey Turkey, Season Man, and to some extent Ghost Cop, all were welcome additions that helped spice things up a bit. This show is back in contention for best new series of the year and it’s slowly but surely becoming a two-horse race.
