“Laughter is the Worst Medicine”

Homer is in another eating contest, at the urging of Bart. He eats so much, he passes out. Krusty rushes out so he can get an honorary doctorate at some ceremony. At the doctor’s, Dr. Huxtable tell’s Marge that Homer blew the food pleasure center of his brain. Then. Ralph accidentally gets Dr. Nick and Huxtable electrocuted with a defibrillator. At the ceremony, Krusty ends up walking out with a real doctorate. The next day, he has a line of people looking to get checked out by him. He’s so popular, just because he makes them laugh. Meanwhile, Marge dresses up as Moe and hires Chef Ari to cook a meal for Homer. Nothing works out. When Marge brings Homer to Krusty, the real doctors take over, and get Homer his taste in food back.

“The Maggie and Moe Mysteries”

Did you happen to catch the pretty terrible show on ABC called Whodunnit? Well, this is the Simpsons take on it. Moe is babysitting Maggie, and he needs sugar for Maggie’s oatmeal. He ends up in the rich part of town, and in the middle of the reading of Mr. Ritzfield’s will. The attorney disappears, and it’s up to Moe and Maggie to solve it. Maggie does most of the work, and figures out that the attorney accidentally fell down the stairs. Back at home, The family comes home, and Moe refuses to help look for the remote.

“Stretch Dude and Clobber Girl in: A League of Their Own”

In the midst of a fight with Judge Mental, the courthouse gets massive damage. Skinner’s mom tries, and succeeds to get superheroes banned. There is a great homage to the cover  of Amazing Spider-Man #50, here. After Bart failed to get bullied at school, and Lisa getting banned from gym, they decide that they need to take action. After the women voters decline to let them, The heroes decide to become villains, since there’s nothing stopping them to use their powers like when they were heroes. They save the day, and expose the doppelganger as an alien trying to do away with the heroes.Stretch Dude and Clobber Girl save the day!

This book was very meh. The best story bar-none, was Stretch Dude and Clobber Girl. The homage to comics of the past was awesome. Laughter starts with a retread of a comic where Homer and Comic Book Guy are in a pie eating contest. Also, Krusty isn’t funny as a doctor. Maggie and Moe held no interest for me either, because I think dinner and a murder mystery are so dumb. I guess it’s withdrawl. There is only so much one story can carry a book..
