Bubbleblabber vs Carl’s Stone Cold Pick of the NFL Week 2: Giants vs Broncos

Carl and I both picked the Pats last week to beat the Bills, but it wasn’t easy for Tom Brady. To be quite honest I think both myself and Carl could walk on to the Patriots roster right now and play next week as his Number 1 and 2 wide receivers. Game 2 shows clearly that if the Pats are going to make a run at this, it’s all in Tom Brady’s hands…and now he’s 2-0.

This week Carl is taking the Gints over the Denver Broncos which means Carl has clearly taken one too many blows to the head. Not sure if he knows this but last year Denver GM John Elway traded away Tim Tebow (whom just one season prior led Denver to an improbable playoff run) and picked up Peyton Manning whom is probably a closer depiction to Jesus than Tim Tebow ever could be. But, is that enough to beat the Giants?? Well, let’s see down below:

Last week Peyton Manning put up close to 50 points on a Baltimore Ravens team that certainly lost a whole bunch on Defense following their Super Bowl run.  That said, the Denver defensive line looks suspect with no Von Miller and no Elvis Dumervil so Eli Manning should be able to get more time in the pocket to hit Nicks and Cruz. Both teams stink in the run game, but Peyton has receiving weapons too with Wes Welker,Demaryius Thomas, and Julius Thomas all getting two TD’s a piece last week. With the way the Giants played the Cowboys receivers last week, don’t be surprised if Wes Welker takes on the Miles Austin role in getting a majority of the catches, but Thomas could be dangerous in the long game because the Giants D backfield is rather decimated. This is an 11 win team, but with no run game I think its another quick playoff run for Peyton.

Last week, Eli Manning had a rather impressive throwing game against the Dallas Cowboys and put up 31 points, but he also threw a whole bunch of picks and David Wilson put the ball on the ground in crucial situations. As a result, Tom Coughlin found Brandon Jacobs, probably hiding in his bushes, and decided to give him the starting ball. In any case the Denver D kept Ray Rice to about 40 yards rushing which is a stellar effort to say the least, but Eli has two very good receivers with Vic Cruz and Hakeen Nicks and one that could be a rising star in Rueben Randle. In any case, the Giants D is just as atrocious as any in football. Couple that and the fact that this team really has no run game I can’t see this team doing better than 9-7 for the season and that’s me being nice.
