Official website for ‘The Awesomes’ launches with new trailer
Wow, all of the sudden I really want it to be the first of August…
Set to premier on Hulu on August 1st (or earlier if you are an XBOX Live User of Hulu) is The Awesomes, a new animated series starring co-creator Seth Meyers as ‘Prock’ along with a bunch of his other former SNL cast mates like Kenan Thompson and the utterly brilliant Bill Hader. Also looking to join the fray are former cast mates from what I felt was the superior sketch show in MADtv that being Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project) and Bobby Lee.
The Awesomes follows a bunch of rag-tag superheroes hoping to fill the shoes of their much more skilled predecessors in the realm of fighting crime but of course not everything goes according to plan. The show is being produced by Bento Box animation, as well as Michael Shoemaker and Meyers. Hulu is getting series with the animated series as they just launched a pretty impressive looking website that has a bunch of clips, photos, and more. This is a good sign that the online network is willing to put in good dollars to support their show as they pass on just relying on word to mouth or social nets to promote the series in favor of a more established web presence that I think will surely pay off.
The Awesomes will also be a part of San Diego Comic Con, you can check out their listing here. Also, check out a clip below for the new series and get boned up because August 1st is looking super ‘Awesome’.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
